Entering the world of horses in an exciting time for children, it is our job at Getner Barn to make your child's experience the best
it can be.
Our camp is designed to instill safety, knowledge and enjoyment of horses. During your child's week at our farm,
he/she will work closely with our horses in a “hands on” environment.
Other activities include demonstrations, reading/ writing activities,
crafts, videos, and games all based on increasing your child's knowledge of good horsemanship.
Essentials:
Riding boots are required every day. Additionally, your child should bring a change of clothes, warm sweatshirt,
extra socks and towel to accommodate weather changes and the need for a quick change. Sneakers are not recommended, although
they are permitted when not riding.
If your child has any special concerns, problems, or medical needs, Kathi Meenan must be notified
in writing, along with a doctor's note advising that your child may attend.
Requirements:
All children must have proper riding boots and a helmet. If you don't own a helmet, the barn will provide one. They will
be required to ride in pants to avoid leather rubs. A release form must be signed, before a child is allowed on or near a horse.
The
space is limited for the camp due to the availability of the horses. The camp will be once again taught by Jessica with the assistance
of others.
If you have any question, please feel free to call us. You can reach Kathi in the evening, after 7:30, via phone, or email. The Barn itself is located at 22 Richards Avenue in Norwalk, CT.
